This gardening routine requires daily maintenance - watering, monitoring for disease/pests, turning the compost and pulling weeds. As I grew a bunch of plants from seed it was magical to watch but the need for "potting up" seemed to get put off until it was sometimes too late and I had stunted my little plants. I've learned a lot as I've started to attempt growing food and for the most part, I am enjoying every minute of it. Gardening can be so incredibly time consuming but it turns out that for me, playing in the dirt is a labour of love.
My container vegetable garden currently includes zucchini (pictured below), tomatoes, beets, radishes, spinach, rainbow swiss chard and green leaf lettuce. My tiny fruit garden is inhabited by a flowering strawberry plant and a row of saskatoon berry bushes in the backyard.
